Jimmy: I didn't know Kyle had gone

Calderwood confirmed Kyle had been given permission on Tuesday to join the Russian club's pre-season training camp in Turkey, but revealed he had received a phonecall from the Scotland international to say he was not going.[LNB]The Killie boss then found out through the media that the 28-year-old had flown out on Wednesday before playing in a trial match on Thursday.[LNB]Kyle was due to arrive back in Scotland on Friday evening and may be left out of the squad for Saturday's SPL game at Hibernian.[LNB]A nonplussed Calderwood said: "We gave him permission to go on Tuesday and that got called off.[LNB]"The next thing we hear, he went on Wednesday.[LNB]"We'll have a look and see, have a talk to him and see exactly what's happened and take it from there."[LNB]The outspoken Kyle was disciplined by Killie for comments made in the media earlier this year about the club and chairman Michael Johnston.[LNB]He is out of contract in the summer and is free to speak to other teams.[LNB]He could even join Spartak immediately as the Russian Premier League, which kicks off next weekend, does not operate under the standard transfer window.[LNB]Calderwood revealed how Spartak's approach for Kyle emerged earlier this week.[LNB]"It all came through agents that they were interested in Kevin," he said.[LNB]"They said they would like to see him, I spoke to Kevin about it and he was quite interested.[LNB]"The fee that was supposed to be involved, it seemed set in stone.[LNB]"It was a good one for everybody.[LNB]"I don't know exactly what's happened; I'll need to hear from Kevin exactly how it's gone and then we'll take it from there."[LNB]Kyle looks unlikely to earn a move to Spartak before the end of the season after failing to impress in their 3-0 friendly win over Zhemchuzhina Sochi.[LNB]Assistant coach Kazbek Nakhushev, who confirmed the club's interest in the forward earlier this week, said they "are not ready to make a decision".[LNB]Kyle said he enjoyed the experience and was open minded about his future.[LNB]He was reported earlier this week to have snubbed a move to a city which the Foreign Office warns is at risk of terrorist attack, with Westerners particularly vulnerable to kidnap threats.[LNB]Calderwood insisted that although Killie agreed a transfer fee for Kyle, they had not ruled out keeping him and extending his contract.[LNB]But he added: "It's not on the table at this moment in time."[LNB]Kilmarnock's seven-match unbeaten run ended with a 1-0 defeat at Motherwell last weekend but Saturday's opponents Hibs are on a run of five games without a win.[LNB]Warning of the attacking threat of John Hughes' side, Calderwood said: "Their confidence won't be sky high but if they get a goal in the first minute then it's a different matter.[LNB]"We were on a good run and we let it go last week, so hopefully we can bounce back."[LNB][LNB] Hibernian v Kilmarnock.
