    Jefferies eyes fitness boost

Kilmarnock manager Jim Jefferies is hoping the unwanted international break can have a silver lining with the return of some injured players to his ranks.

The Killie chief has bemoaned the timing of the latest break with his side currently riding high in second place in the table after taking ten points from the first 12 on offer this season.

But Jefferies hopes the lay-off will allow Danny Invincibile and Simon Ford to return to action from foot and thigh injuries in time to face Rangers at Ibrox on September 13.

"The one good thing about it is that both Danny and Simon would have been struggling to play this weekend," he told the Kilmarnock Standard.

"But the fact that we don't have a game means that they should be okay to play against Rangers at Ibrox a week on Saturday."
