Jefferies impressed by Brown

The 28-year-old Celtic goalkeeper accepted a six-month loan deal as he was being kept out by Artur Boruc after signing from Inverness in January 2007. Brown was recruited as cover for Killie number one Alan Combe, whose ongoing hip problem will hopefully be sorted once and for all when he goes under the knife tomorrow although he could still be out for up to three months. The former Rangers keeper will make his debut against Hearts in the Scottish Premier League clash at Tynecastle on Saturday and Jefferies believes Brown will be desperate to show that he is a top-class keeper. "Mark's attitude has been fantastic," Jefferies said. "He is keen to play and he has said that he wants to prove to people that he is still a good goalkeeper who can play at this level. "And from what I've seen in training this week, he has the hunger to do well and that's what we want from him. "It's not easy to get someone as good as Mark into your squad. "Everybody wants three keepers and I didn't want to bring in another young keeper. "We have Cameron Bell and Lee Robinson, good young keepers, but I needed to get some experience in. "There were a couple of options but Mark came through because he has played in Scotland, and he played regularly at Inverness. "I think he was always going to to be the understudy for Boruc and he misses first team football. "So it was ideal and it suits both parties." Hearts 8/11, Draw 5/2, Kilmarnock 4/1
