Injury verdict boosts Ford
31 Dec 2009 - 14:08:46
Kilmarnock defender Simon Ford is content that an eye injury suffered against Dundee United has not left him with any long-term damage.
The 28-year-old lasted just 25 minutes of the goalless draw with Dundee United, after a clash of heads involving Sean Dillon left Ford needing a hospital check-up.
He told the Scottish Sun: "The swelling is starting to go down now, but I still can't open my eye.
"Where the stitches are may be a bit of a problem as they are just above my eye. If I head the ball they could split open, but I've had that before and got through a game.
"I went for an X-ray on Saturday night and while it was hard to tell due to the swelling, it didn't look as though I'd broken anything.
"I was worried about there being any permanent eye damage, but I saw a specialist on Tuesday and she said there was no long-term damage. That was a relief."
