Gus: Combe deserved red card

MacPherson felt Combe should have walked for his first-half tackle on Craig Dargo, which gave the home side a penalty in their first game at their new St Mirren Park ground.[LNB]Jim Hamilton missed the spot-kick but it was the challenge - for which Combe was booked - that most concerned MacPherson.[LNB]He said: "I've seen the pictures again and it's an easy decision but, yet again, we don't see the right decision.[LNB]"I don't know what the referee's angle is.[LNB]"It's not because it's a goalscoring opportunity - he's going away from the goal - it's the nature of the challenge.[LNB]"The challenge comes in at Craig Dargo's knee with no intent to play the ball, so it's a clear red card.[LNB]"Any other area of the park, you'd be expecting a straight red card."[LNB]MacPherson admitted he feared for his side after Hamilton's miss, saying: "You don't get a better opportunity than a penalty and when we don't take it, you can see the heads go down for a little spell after that."[LNB]But he insisted his side merited their late leveller.[LNB]"I would've been disappointed if we hadn't taken anything from the game," he said.[LNB]"For long periods, we were in control, created lots of good opportunities and didn't take them.[LNB]"We were pushing me forward, we were taking chances, and thankfully we got that equaliser."[LNB][LNB]
