Greer eyes coffers boost

Kilmarnock defender Gordon Greer is hopeful that his side's run to the final of the CIS Insurance Cup will boost the Rugby Park club's coffers.

Greer hopes that success on the field will give boss Jim Jefferies more money to spend in the summer and help the push to ensure top-six finishes in the future.

He told The Scotsman: "At the start of the season our main aim was simply to get a place in the top six, so the cup competitions were a nice distraction for us.

"But that seems to have worked in our favour and now we are in the final we want to win it.

"At the start of the season top-six was the priority financially.

"I'm not sure how much the cup run will bring in, but it will give Kilmarnock a lot of extra coverage and any extra money will be more than welcome, I'm sure."
