Ford pens new Killie deal

Kilmarnock have handed a new contract to defender Simon Ford.

The 26-year-old was out of contract at Rugby Park at the end of December but has put pen to paper on a new two-and-half-year deal.

"I thought about moving because football is a short career and you have to look after yourself," he told the Daily Record.

"I spoke to my family about moving but they are settled in Scotland and really enjoy it up here. I didn't want to uproot them again.

"I'm settled and the manager wanted to keep me. I'm happy here, so rather than up and leave and start somewhere new - which doesn't always work out - I was pleased to sign a new deal."
