Dundee United midfielder David Fernandez is on the verge of leaving the club in order to link up with Kilmarnock.
The Spaniard is no longer in manager Craig Brewster's plans at Tannadice and is in negotiations with Terrors officials about a pay-off for the remainder of his contract.
He is also in talks with Kilmarnock about a signing a deal with them and could make the switch before the two clubs meet at Rugby Park on Saturday.
However, United have no intention of allowing him to make his Killie debut against them.
Brewster told the Evening Telegraph: "As far as I understand, David is heading for Killie, but he has to agree his deal with us before that can happen and, even if he does, there is no way he is playing against us on Saturday."
Meanwhile, Killie have allowed 20-year-old forward Robert Campbell to join Dundee on loan for the rest of the season.
