Eremenko braced for potential exit

Alexei Eremenko has stated his desire to remain at Kilmarnock until the end of the season but admits he is bracing himself for the prospect of a January departure.

The on-loan Finnish midfielder's efforts have earned him the Clydesdale Bank Premier League player of the month award for November. But he knows his success so far in the SPL means his parent club Metalist Kharkiv could cash-in when the transfer window reopens in January.

"I like playing here and, at the moment, I don't want to move anywhere," said Eremenko. "But many things depend on Metalist, if they get a good offer for me and they want to sell me, there is not much I can do about it. I am speaking to them but they haven't really given me any news so we will see later."

He added: "Now that I'm here and I'm enjoying playing and have seen how the team is playing, it would not be a surprise if I stayed here in January. For me and for the team, to stay at Kilmarnock would be the best thing."

Eremenko refused to look too far ahead but admits he would love to play in the Barclays Premier League one day.

He added: "I don't really have a goal, I just want to enjoy my football.

"I'm happy here at the moment but England is the toughest league in the world, and the best league, so I think any player would want to play there."

Speaking of his award, he said: "It's a big thing for me to win this award.

"Winning any award is a good thing but especially this one. I have only been here for three months so to get this award is a big thing.

"I have to say thanks to the manager and my team-mates because, without them, I wouldn't have it."
