Elebert impressed by Sammon leap

Hamilton defender David Elebert is looking forward to coming face to face with Facebook buddy Conor Sammon when Accies visit Kilmarnock.[LNB] Elebert, 24, has known the Killie striker from their days with the Republic of Ireland Under-19 side and keeps in touch through the social networking site.[LNB]However, the New Douglas Park player knows he will have his hands full against Sammon, who has been in fine form this season since taking over as the main striker from the departed Kevin Kyle, scoring eight so far with a goal in each of the last two wins over Hearts and St Johnstone.[LNB]Ahead of Wednesday night's SPL clash at Rugby Park, Elebert said: "I'm friends with Conor Sammon, we played together for Ireland Under-19s a few years ago.[LNB]"I keep in touch with him by Facebook and I send him a few messages.[LNB]"He's come on leaps and bounds this season since he has taken over from Kevin Kyle.[LNB]"At the start of the season, you would have said strikers were the weak point of Kilmarnock's team but Conor has stepped into that role and has done brilliantly.[LNB]"He is their main man and scoring goals, so he will be dangerous.[LNB]"If I'm playing I will be marking him. I have played against him a couple of times in the reserves but never started against each other in the SPL so I look forward to it.[LNB]"They are doing great. Last season they were a big robust physical team and they sometimes went the direct route with Kevin Kyle up front.[LNB]"They have changed their tactical approach with Mixu Paatelainen coming in as boss with new ideas, they are more of a football team which might suit us."[LNB]The new style under Paatelainen has come to fruition in recent weeks with successive 3-0 away wins over Hearts and St Johnstone, but those impressive displays have not prompted the Finn to modify his ambitions for his first Rugby Park campaign.[LNB]"Our target for the season is to stay in the Premier League and we'll not get carried away," Paatelainen said.[LNB]"We enjoy performances and we enjoy victories but we do realise this season will be a rollercoaster.[LNB]"There will be greyer days. It's like the Scottish weather, in the morning you get sunshine and in the afternoon blistering rain. The season will be like that.[LNB]"We will be patient, we will work hard and, in the long run, we will be fine."
