McLean has emerged as a candidate to become interim manager at Rugby Park, while chairman Michael Johnston has confirmed Calderwood is in the frame for the job on a permanent basis.[LNB]McLean, 62, is currently part of Scotland's youth coaching staff.[LNB]The former Killie player, who has also managed Motherwell and Dundee United, told the Scottish Sun: "Kilmarnock is a club close to my heart.[LNB]"The job would interest me but until I speak to the chairman in more detail I can't say any more."[LNB]Calderwood has been out of work since leaving Aberdeen in the summer.[LNB]Despite Johnston going public about his interest in him, the former Dunfermline boss said he had yet to hear from the Killie chairman.[LNB]"Somebody said he had been trying to get in touch with me, but that was three or four days ago," Calderwood told BBC Sport.[LNB]"It has been horrible being out of the game and the longer it lasts the worse it gets, so I am willing to talk to anybody."[LNB]Calderwood believes Kilmarnock, who are second bottom of the Scottish Premier League, have the squad to escape relegation.[LNB]"They have a good playing staff," he said. "But you have to be asked first of all and take it from there."[LNB]Queen of the South's Gordon Chisholm has also been linked with the job.[LNB]Queens chairman Davie Rae said: "I've seen Gordon's name linked to the position, but I've heard nothing and I hope it stays that way as I'd be happy for him to stay here.[LNB]"We're having a great season and I hope we can hold on to our manager."[LNB]Meanwhile, businessman Kenny Alexander is keen to meet with Johnston in the coming days over a possible investment in the Ayrshire club.[LNB]Alexander is a chief executive officer of an internet gaming company, with business interests in London.[LNB]"Kilmarnock's predicament is pretty serious," Alexander said. "The situation is quite difficult.[LNB]"I hope to meet Michael in the next few days and I'd like to help him out in some way.[LNB]"I would like to get my head under the bonnet to see what is what.[LNB]"There is a real danger of administration, but I hope to see a way to avoid it."[LNB]Johnston said: "There has been no positive proposal from him and I may be meeting with him shortly, so it will be interesting what he has to say about that."[LNB][LNB]
