Combe hails hat-trick hero

Kilmarnock's CIS Insurance Cup semi-final hero Steven Naismith has earned high praise from team-mate Alan Combe.

Naismith netted a superb hat-trick in the 3-0 victory over Falkirk, with Combe believing it was just reward for the youngster's efforts.

He told The Scotsman: "Steven is as level-headed as you will find.

"He's naturally a shy boy who comes into the changing room and sits in the corner without saying a word.

"But he's come out of his shell a wee bit in recent times and that is something that should stand him in good stead for his career.

"He's been on fire over the past month, but that's a result of all the hard work he puts in. He produces the same level of effort in training every single day."
