Kilmarnock defender Tim Clancy will be out of action until well into the next campaign after suffering ankle ligament damage.
Clancy ruptured ligaments in last weekend's draw with Gretna and faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
"We thought it was a break at first but Tim still has to see a specialist and may need a minor operation," manager Jim Jefferies told the Daily Record.
"He's definitely going to miss pre-season and the start of the new campaign.
"It's a big blow as Tim has got to grips with the SPL and would have been pushing for a regular starting place.
"It's was an innocuous challenge, so it was just bad luck on Tim's part. But we've had more than our share of bad luck this season."
