Burchill eyeing starting role
Burchill has come off the bench twice in recent weeks after recovering from the Achilles injury he suffered shortly after his summer move from Rotherham.[LNB]The 29-year-old played with Kyle for Scotland Under-21s and is confident they can strike up a good combination at club level.[LNB]"I've known big Kev for years, we were in the Under-21 squad together years ago," Burchill said.[LNB]"We had three or four appearances, he was just coming in the squad and was coming off the bench.[LNB]"But you know when you train with someone for a couple of days, you know right away if you can play with someone or you can't.[LNB]"I know his style and he knows my style. I'm sure if we were played together, we could form a good partnership.[LNB]"It's easy to play with someone who is a good player.[LNB]"But there are a few other good forwards at the club, so it's a good mix."[LNB]Kyle has scored 13 of Kilmarnock's last 23 goals, and missed four matches in that spell through injury and suspension.[LNB]Killie have only scored once in the four Scottish Premier League games before their trip to Perth and Burchill is keen to help solve their goalscoring problems.[LNB]"Big Kev has done really well," the former Celtic striker said.[LNB]"I think the only problem is if he doesn't score goals, no one does.[LNB]"If we can find other people who can score goals beside him then it will be good for the team."[LNB]Burchill added: "When I signed, I was here to score goals. I'm no different now.[LNB]"I think the team have been very unlucky, playing pretty well and not scoring. So if I can help with that, that's great.[LNB]"I think there are a few guys here who can score goals, it's just not been happening.[LNB]"I'm confident if I can get in the team I can score goals. I have in the past at this level and I will in the future, I've no doubt about that.[LNB]"Getting injured at the start of the season and needing an operation obviously put me back a couple of months but I'm fit now.[LNB]"I've come off the bench a couple of times and played three or four reserve games so I'm desperate to be involved and starting games sooner rather than later."[LNB][LNB]
