Karlsruhe bring in Drpic

Karlsruhe have moved quickly after learning that captain Maik Franz faces a spell on the sidelines by snapping up Croatia international Dino Drpic on loan until the end of the season.

The 27-year-old joins the relegation-threatened side from Dinamo Zagreb.

"Even before the injury to Maik Franz we were in need of signing a centre-back," admitted Karlsruhe manager Rolf Dohmen.

"We are convinced that with his sporting qualities Drpic can help us. That was our main concern."

Drpic has a chequered history and was dropped by Dinamo after it emerged that he had a serious gambling problem.

He has also been involved in several unsavoury incidents with both the police and team-mates.
