Van not the man for Juve

Marco Van Basten has not been approached by Juventus to replace under-pressure coach Ciro Ferrara, according to his agent.

The former Netherlands and Ajax coach was reported to have been sounded out by officials representing the Serie A club following their patchy form under rookie coach Ferrara during his first six months at the helm.

However, agent Perry Overeem claims there has been no official contact from the Turin club.

"We cannot exclude anything, but there has not been any official contact with any team," he said.

"I don't know anything about a presumed interest regarding this type of role.

"Would he like Juventus and Italy? We are ready to consider any serious offer that has an interesting project tied to it."

Last month, experienced Dutch coach Guus Hiddink was strongly linked with a move to the Stadio Olimpico to replace the under-pressure Ferrara.
