Massimiliano Allegri calls Paul Pogba in for training

Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri has summoned Paul Pogba to begin pre-season training with the club amid talk of the midfielder being set for an imminent switch to Manchester United.

Reports have suggested United are ready to pay a world-record fee of around £100million for France international Pogba, who has been on holiday in the United States after Euro 2016.

And a deal appeared close on Friday when Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho said a big signing could be expected over the next few days - he mentioned trying to "close our market" before August 14 - and that the club are "going to get a very good midfield player", adding: "Pogba is a Juventus player until officially he isn't."

But Allegri was quoted by Corriere dello Sport on Saturday as saying at a press conference ahead of side's friendly at West Ham the next day: "I've summoned Pogba together with (Patrice) Evra for tomorrow night.

"He has training here in Vinovo on Monday."

Allegri added: "It makes no sense at the moment talking about potential replacements for Pogba because, right now, Pogba is a Juventus player."

Pogba, 23, has been with Juventus since joining them from United in 2012.
