Juve to carry on with Ferrera

Juventus director Roberto Bettega has attempted to draw a line under the saga surrounding the future of Ciro Ferrara by claiming the club never had any plans to replace their under-pressure coach.

Several well-established coaches have lined up to claim they have been approached by the Turin club in recent weeks about replacing rookie coach Ferrara.

Guus Hiddink and Marco van Basten are just two high-profile names to be linked with the Stadio Olimpico hot-seat.

However, Bettega claims the Juve board never had any intention of finding a replacement for Ferrara.

"We'll carry on with our project and doubts on the coach's work were coming from elsewhere rather than from us," he declared.

"Champions League qualification, Coppa Italia and Europa League, we have plenty of objectives and must look ahead."
