Juve's goalkeeping woes worsen
16 Mar 2010 - 07:32:38
Juventus' goalkeeping problems have taken a turn for the worse after it was confirmed that Alex Manninger faces up to three weeks on the sidelines with a thigh injury.
The 32-year-old Austria international has been standing in for first-choice shot-stopper Gianluigi Buffon, who is not expected to be back until the end of the month, for the last three weeks.
In addition, Martin Caceres, who is currently on loan from Barcelona, has been forced to return to Spain to undergo treatment on an abdominal problem.
A statement from the Turin-based club read: "Alex Manninger has suffered a first-grade injury in his right thigh and the time for recovery is estimated at 15 to 20 days.
"Martin Caceres is suffering from an abdominal strain and needs further examinations.
"The player will be in Barcelona to undergo further tests there. Both Blaugrana and Bianconeri medics will then decide on what course of therapy to take."
