Juve keeper Buffon quashes title talk

Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has dismissed talk of a title tilt and pointed to recent history that suggests the club's unbeaten start to the season should not be cause for elation.

Juve lead Udinese on goal difference after remaining unbeaten in 14 matches while reigning champions AC Milan are two points behind in third.

But Buffon says this isn't the first time in recent years that the club has started well and yet they finished seventh in each of the last two seasons.

"It's risky talking about the title, leading the league is just something temporary that's lasted 14 games," said Buffon.

"At this time of the season last year we were also close to the top but we didn't even qualify for Europe."

The French press have speculated Juve are interested in signing Manchester City rebel Carlos Tevez and have even tabled a 30-million euros bid for the Argentine.

However, Buffon would be wary of welcoming a player who has caused problems before at his clubs, and not just at City.

"I don't know if he would raise the bar if he joined Juventus, we're covered up front and I don't know what problems he might have," said the Italy captain.

"All I know is that with us you have to put your own ego to one side stay all together."
