Ferrara handed Juve reins

Juventus have handed interim coach Ciro Ferrara the post on a permanent basis after he made a good impression in the last two games of the season.

The 42-year-old, who has signed a two-year contract with the Turin-based side, replaced the sacked Claudio Ranieri last month.

When Ferrara took charge at the Stadio Olimpico, Juve were in danger of missing out on securing an automatic Champions League place, but impressive victories against Siena and Lazio ensured they finished second in Serie A behind champions Internazionale.

A statement on the club's official website read: "Ciro Ferrara, a symbol of Juventus, is our new coach.

"He will coach the club where, as a player, he won everything. He has remained faithful to the club, guiding the youth team for the last three seasons.

"He has been handed a two-year contract."
