Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon is poised to undergo knee surgery and is likely to be sidelined for around six weeks as a result.
The 31-year-old played through the pain barrier to try and help Juve progress in the Champions League, but a 4-1 thrashing by Bayern Munich ended hopes of European glory.
Now Buffon faces going under the knife, perhaps even before the weekend Serie A clash with Bari.
His agent, Silvano Martina, told calciomercato.it: "Buffon will have an operation on Sunday. I don't know if he will play against Bari on Saturday, but in my opinion he won't.
"We are not dealing with a serious injury and he could return to the first team within five or six weeks."
