Buffon hints at retirement

Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has stated that he will retire from football as soon as he drifts out of the international picture.

The 32-year-old, who has completed a century of appearances for the Azzurri, is set to be first-choice for Italy's World Cup defence in South Africa this summer, but he may call time soon after.

He told the Italian media: "When they no longer call me up to the national team, I will retire. It's not as if I would like to continue playing forever."

Meanwhile, Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini has set his sights on bringing striker Amauri back to the club following a disappointing first season in Turin.

He told Gr Parlamento: "Once again I will confirm that I would take back Amauri.

"I am certain that the way Juventus have played has not helped him. It has not helped him to show his qualities and it seems like his team-mates forget about him.

"Give him the ball and he will be a great striker, but Juventus never pass it to him."
