Coach Marcello Lippi is confident Francesco Totti will be fit to feature in Italy's World Cup opener against Ghana.
The Roma playmaker missed three months of the Serie A season after breaking a bone in his ankle and only made a couple of brief appearances for his club before heading to the Azzurri's training camp.
However, Lippi is pleased by the progress Totti has made since linking up with the national team.
"He (Totti) is following a different work programme which helps him to get back some aspects of his game - stopping, changing direction and hitting the ball with his injured foot," explained Lippi
"He is improving. He is getting more confident."
