Coach Cesare Prandelli said on Thursday he would take a repeat result from Italy's last visit to the Faroe Islands despite many Italians looking back at that game as a 'semi-defeat.'
Four years ago Italy laboured to a 2-1 win against the minnows here and ahead of Friday's Euro 2012 qualifier Prandelli says he would be happy with that result again.
"To tell the truth I'd take that," he said, with Italy needing two wins from their final four matches in Group C to ensure their passage to Poland and Ukraine next year.
A win here would set the Azzurri up to seal qualification when they host Slovenia in Florence on Tuesday, but Prandelli realises the game against the Faroes is one in which reputations can only be tarnished.
"We have everything to lose. We've not qualified yet so we have to maintain our concentration," he said.
"Of course everything depends on us, we want to see things through in these two games.
"We have to concentrate on our own game and play at a high tempo."
The former Roma and Fiorentina boss is adamant his players must focus on their own game and forget about the alien surroundings in this remote country.
"Our philosophy is to have an idea about how to play, holding onto the ball and looking to get forward," he said.
"We want to use the qualities of our four midfielders and two strikers.
"We respect our opponents, this is a magical place. The islands here are fabulous but if it wasn't for the football I'm not sure we'd be here.
"They have a lot of enthusiasm and that can take you a long way.
"We need to make sure the talk is about football, about chances, nothing else."
