Del Piero set for Italy call

Juventus forward Alessandro Del Piero is set to be recalled to Italy's Euro 2008 squad following eight months in the international wilderness.

Italy coach Roberto Donadoni has dropped a strong hint that the 33-year-old playmaker will be on the plane to Austria & Switzerland after his return to form during the second half of the Serie A season.

Del Piero has won 85 caps during a 13-year international career for the Azzurri.

"A few months ago I wasn't sure, but now I would choose him," said Donadoni.

"The facts speak for themselves but I will only talk about selections on the fixed date.

"It seems that lots of players have decided to give me the problem of too many options.

"All that I am sure of is that with Del Piero and everyone else, my choices are my own and there will be no controversy."
