Mario Balotelli hit his ninth international goal to help Italy to a 2-1 win over Mexico in their Confederations Cup opener on Sunday.
The striker capped a fine performance at the Maracana in the 78th minute when he muscled past Mexican skipper Francisco Rodriguez to beat goalkeeper Jose Corona.
Andrea Pirlo marked his 100th appearance for Italy with the opening goal after 27 minutes, curling a free-kick over the wall from 30 yards.
But Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez levelled from the penalty spot seven minutes later when Andrea Barzagli fouled Gio dos Santos.
