Former Italy striker Antonio Cassano will meet the press on Tuesday afternoon amid reports the 35-year-old is set to retire just eight days after joining Hellas Verona.

The ex-Real Madrid and Inter Milan forward joined the Serie A newcomers last week following his departure from Sampdoria but reports in Italy claim he is set to call time on his career 18 years after making his league debut for Bari.

Hellas, who were due to introduce new signing Thomas Heurtaux to the press at 16:00 local time on Tuesday, announced on their official Twitter account that Cassano would instead face the media.

They wrote: " Change of plans: @THeurtaux_75 presentation postponed to tomorrow (12). Today #Cassano will meet the press at 16 #HVFC."

After moving from Bari to Roma in 2001, Cassano had spells at Real Madrid, Sampdoria, AC Milan, Inter Milan and Parma before heading back to Samp in 2015.

Cassano has scored 113 Serie A goals during his career.
