Iraq face possible world ban by FIFA

Iraq is facing a possible ban from world football after the Iraqi Football Association (IFA) was disbanded.

A statement from football’s world governing body, FIFA, read: “The basis on which such a decision could be taken is incomprehensible to FIFA. This stands in total contradiction with IFA and FIFA statutes.”

The Iraqi Olympic Committee, who made the decision, have been given 72 hours to reverse it before the case is referred to ‘the FIFA Emergency Committee in order to decide on a possible IFA suspension.’
