Williams won't rush back

Ipswich Town midfielder Gavin Williams does not expect to return to first-team action for several more weeks as he struggles to overcome a pelvic injury.

The 26-year-old Welshman has not played since the goalless draw with Stoke City at the end of January and the injury is proving to be more problematic than was originally envisaged.

"I've been told that I need another two injections and these need to be five days apart, so that takes me well into next week," Williams told the Evening Star.

"Then it'll be fingers crossed to see how quickly I can recover.

"I'm at a stage when I've had enough of a stop-start season. So I don't plan to try to rush back and put myself in danger of breaking down."
