    Williams blow hits Town

    09 Aug 2007 - 11:07:24

Ipswich Town midfielder Gavin Williams will be sidelined for at least three months after a scan on an ankle injury showed severe ligament damage.

The 27-year-old Wales international was injured in the weekend friendly against Panathinaikos and, despite an X-ray showing no broken bones, Williams now faces a lengthy spell out of action after a second scan.

Town physio, Matt Byard, told the club's official website: "Gavin has ruptured the medial ligament in his ankle.

"It's still very swollen and he will have physiotherapy to help reduce the soft tissue swelling.

"He will be on crutches for a while and will be regularly monitored through his recovery period.

"It's difficult to be precise with a date for his return to full action, but at the moment we are looking at three to four months."
