Wheater pegs back Tractor Boys
Published: 06 Feb 2010 - 18:30:22
David Wheater's first goal in 18 months rescued a Championship point for Middlesbrough as they drew 1-1 with Ipswich at Portman Road. The big defender headed home in the second half to find the net for the first time since the opening day of last season. An even longer goal drought had been ended in the first minute of the game when Daryl Murphy marked his Ipswich debut with a goal after just 23 seconds.Roy Keane raided his former club Sunderland to sign Murphy and David Healy on transfer deadline day and it paid dividends immediately.Healy crossed from the right side and Murphy sent a shot into the bottom corner from 12 yards. It was the first time he had been on the scoresheet since scoring for the Black Cats in a 2-0 Premier League win over Wigan on February 9, 2008.
