Town seal McAuley deal

Ipswich Town have signed defender Gareth McAuley from Leicester City for an undisclosed fee.

The 28-year-old Northern Ireland international has joined the Tractor Boys on a three-year contract.

McAuley joined the Foxes from Lincoln City in June 2006 and went on to make 84 appearances for the recently relegated Championship club.

"Gareth came to see me last week and told me of his desire to leave the club," Leicester chairman Milan Mandaric told his club's official website.

"We would have liked Gareth to assist us in our quest for promotion next season, but his wish was to play elsewhere.

"He has been an excellent servant to the club during his two years at the Walkers Stadium and we wish him all the best for the future."
