Ipswich Town hope to have injured striker Dean Bowditch back in full training by the start of the new season following groin surgery.
Bodwitch, 21, has been dogged by the injury for the past six months and the Tractor Boys have decided on surgery after taking advice from a specialist.
"It was felt that an operation was needed to best aid Dean's recovery," physio Matt Byrad told the club's official website.
"The surgery went well and we are very optimistic about a good recovery.
"Dean has been working on a strengthening programme through the summer and we have been monitoring his progress on a daily basis. The work he has already done will help his recovery post-surgery.
"He will now have two weeks complete rest and then begin his rehabilitation and be back in full activity as soon as possible."
