Town fine contrite Norris
10 Nov 2008 - 17:05:30
Ipswich Town midfielder David Norris has been fined for his goal celebration in the weekend win at Blackpool.
The 26-year-old has admitted the gesture was a 'private' message intended for his former Plymouth Argyle team-mate Luke McCormick, who is serving a prison sentence for causing the deaths of Arron Peak and his brother Ben.
Norris has also been warned about his future conduct with a Town spokesperson adding on the club's official website: "David deeply regrets that his actions have been wrongly interpreted and has written a personal and private letter of regret to Mr and Mrs Peak.
"In hearing the player's explanation, the club also regrets the potential for misinterpretation of the gesture and would like to make a donation to an appropriate charity, equal to the fine imposed on the player."
