Ipswich Town chairman David Sheepshanks has played down reports suggesting David Sullivan is interested in buying the Championship club.
Newspapers reports had linked the Birmingham City co-owner with Town, but Sheepshanks insists businessman Marcus Evans is close to taking on 87.5 per cent of the shares.
"I'm aware that David Sullivan had an interest in the club which has been speculated in the media for some time," Sheepshanks told the club's official website.
"He's subsequently been informed that we're in a period of exclusive negotiations with Marcus Evans, which are in an advanced state and expected to come to a satisfactory conclusion. Mr Sullivan both understands and accepts that."
