Stead ready for Town return

Ipswich Town striker Jon Stead is excited that he is ready to return to the first-team following a four-match lay-off through suspension.

The former Huddersfield Town, Blackburn Rovers, Sunderland and Sheffield United front man was sent-off for the Tractor Boys on Boxing Day during their 3-1 loss at Crystal Palace.

But he is ready to feature again for Roy Keane's struggling Championship outfit as they prepare to face West Bromwich Albion on Tuesday.

Speaking to the club's official website, he said: "It has been a frustrating wait, but I've kept my head down and worked as hard as I can to stay as fit as I can.

"The ban couldn't have come at a worse time for me. I was scoring goals and playing okay and also it's been a long month.

"I was very disappointed by the ban in the first place, especially when you see some of the tackles that go unpunished but to get the extra game was really harsh."
