Ipswich Town defender Tommy Smith is happy to be back in training after his World Cup exploits with New Zealand.
The 20-year-old figured in all three of the White Caps' games as they surprised many by claiming three draws against Slovakia, Italy and Paraguay.
However, with his South African adventure now a distant memory, he is being put through the paces by manager Roy Keane ahead of the new Championship campaign that begins on August 7.
Speaking to the club's official website, he said: "I think you need a break as much mentally as physically.
"I had a week or so off after the end of the season before joining up with New Zealand and then two or three weeks after coming back from the World Cup, which gives time to recharge the batteries.
"I've got a bit of catching up to do with the lads being back for a while and having played a few games but I'm sure the fitness levels will come back pretty quickly."
