Ipswich Town manager Jim Magilton remains hopeful of signing former loanee Francis Jeffers.
The Blackburn Rovers striker impressed the Tractor Boys boss during an injury interrupted two-month loan spell at Portman Road last season where he netted four times in nine appearances.
Premier League-bound Derby County have been linked with a move for the former England international, but Magilton still hopes he can persuade Jeffers to move to East Anglia.
"It's been well documented we're keen on bringing Franny here and the chairman has made a second offer to Blackburn for him," Magilton told the club's official website.
"I've kept in touch with Franny and he's very keen to come. These things take time but hopefully it will resolve itself soon.
"We certainly need a goalscorer, someone to take the weight off Alan Lee and Jon Walters, and that remains a priority."
