Magilton admits derby fortune
20 Apr 2009 - 08:45:23
Ipswich Town boss Jim Magilton admitted his side had the rub of the green after winning Sunday's East Anglian derby 3-2 against Norwich City.
Ipswich edged 2-1 ahead in the second half following a controversial Giovani Dos Santos penalty with Norwich claiming a handball in the build-up from Kevin Lisbie.
The home side went on to win 3-2 and afterwards Magilton admitted they had been fortunate.
"The referee on another day may have not given it but it was a close one. I haven't seen it back so we just have to go with the referee's decision," he said.
"It was contentious but in the second half we turned it up a notch and played some great stuff.
"It was an important win for the fans and we deserved it in my opinion.
"Norwich threw the kitchen sink at us but we defended well and saw it out."
