Ipswich Town striker Alan Lee is hoping David Nugent decides to join the Championship club on loan.
Tractor Boys boss Jim Magilton hopes to find out this week whether the England international has agreed to join the club from Portsmouth.
Nugent has struggled to hold down a regular place at the Premier League club following his £6million signing from Preston North End and is keen to play more first-team football.
And Lee would welcome the arrival of another striker, even though it may limit his own chances of starting games.
"We must be pleased to have anyone new who can bring something to the table," he told the Ipswich Evening Star.
"We have one goal at this club, one goal that we are all aiming for, and that is to reach the Premier League.
"There is always competition if you are a football player, and I will welcome David with open arms.
"He is an England player and a class performer."
