Keane snaps up duo
07 Jul 2009 - 11:20:47
Ipswich Town have completed the signings of Lee Martin and Damien Delaney.
Manager Roy Keane has swooped to sign fellow countryman Delaney from Queens Park Rangers for an undisclosed fee.
The Republic of Ireland international has signed a two-year deal at Portman Road. The 27-year-old will offer cover across the defence for Keane, though he primarily operates at left-back.
Both of the Delaney's international caps have come under current boss Giovanni Trappatoni.
Meanwhile, Martin joins the Tractor Boys following his release from Manchester United.
The winger has inked a four-year contract with the club, after spending most of his Old Trafford career on loan deals.
Former United player Keane said: "Lee was a young lad at Manchester United when I was there and he showed a lot of promise.
"He's ambitious and wants to get back to the top level and I'm delighted he wants to do that with Ipswich Town."
Of Delaney, Keane added: "I'm delighted that Damien has agreed to join us. He's a player that I've kept an eye on for a while and I'm sure he will prove to be a valuable addition to our squad."
