Keane happy with Counago
26 Jul 2009 - 15:05:30
Ipswich Town manager Roy Keane has insisted he is okay with Pablo Counago staying and fighting for his place, despite accepting a bid for the player last week.
Swansea City made an offer for the striker last week, though it is thought that he is keen to stay at Portman Road.
And Keane told the club's official website he is happy that 29-year-old is looking to force himself into the starting XI again.
"I've no problem with Pablo staying and fighting for his place here, absolutely no problem at all," he said.
"I spoke to Pablo and told him that if he wanted a new challenge at a new club then fair enough, but if he wants to stay he has to come out fighting for his place.
"He knows I'm looking to bring in one or two new strikers, so he will have to battle for his place in the team and hopefully we will see him up for the challenge."
