Ipswich pitch causing concern
08 Feb 2010 - 16:52:17
Ipswich Town's usually lush Portman Road pitch has become a rutted mess in recent times, leaving head groundsman Alan Ferguson and his team with a few problems.
To make matter worse, the Tractor Boys haven't lost on their own patch in ten games.
The ground was severely damaged during last Tuesday's FA Youth Cup game against Fulham that was played in pouring rain.
Now defender Liam Rosenior has voiced his own concerns following the 1-1 draw with Middlesbrough on Saturday.
Speaking to the media, he said: "Our pitch has been unbelievably good but on Saturday it was not conducive to good football.
"Our fans were maybe disappointed at the way we played, but it was not easy and I felt sorry for keeper Arran Lee-Barrett every time he had to take a back pass.
"You really had to concentrate on your first touch and a few of my crosses were not to my usual standard. This is something we are going to have to get used to."
