Fresh Town hope for Richards

Defender Matt Richards is hoping the change in manager at Ipswich Town will lead to him staying at Portman Road.

Richards, 24, is out of contract at the end of the season and before Roy Keane's arrival as the new Town boss last week, he had been sent out on loan to Brighton.

"The new manager coming in has been given me a chance and I'm thankful for that," he told the club's official website.

"I did okay against Cardiff (last weekend) and hopefully I will get another chance to show the manager what I can do on Sunday.

"It's been a long time, two years. I have never given up though. I have come in and trained hard and just kept going.

"I've had a chance to show the new manager what I can do and it will be a case now of seeing if I am part of his plans for the future.

"The door might be a little bit more open for me now, who knows. I definitely want to stay if that is possible."
