De Vos advised to stay

Ipswich Town forward Jonathan Walters hopes veteran defender Jason De Vos will complete a U-turn and carry on playing next season.

The 34-year-old Canadian has said he will retire at the end of the current campaign, but Walters hopes De Vos has a change of heart.

"He'd be a big miss if he wasn't here. He's a colossus for us at the back and he's been fantastic for us this year," Walters told the Evening Star.

"If you play against a big striker then you need someone like him at the back. Jason battles for every ball and every header - you need someone like that in the team.

"If he didn't play then he'd be a miss because he gives 110 per cent every time he goes out.

"But it's his decision at the end of the day and it will depend on what next year brings."
