Colgan joins Tractor Boys
31 Jan 2008 - 22:48:12
Ipswich Town have snapped up experienced goalkeeper Nick Colgan on a short-term deal until the end of the season.
The 34-year-old was released from his contract at Barnsley earlier on Thursday and has now joined the Tractor Boys.
Ipswich boss Jim Magilton has already signed Derby County goalkeeper Stephen Bywater on loan on transfer deadline day after allowing number one Neil Alexander to leave Portman Road.
"Nick Colgan is a vastly experienced keeper who will provide strong competition for Stephen Bywater here over the rest of the season," Magilton told the club's official website.
"I expect him to push Stephen all the way for his place and I am delighted to have him on board.
"He is an international keeper who has been involved with the Republic of Ireland recently and will be another good voice to have around the place."
