Wickham blow for Town

Ipswich's teenage striker Connor Wickham will miss the start of the new season after damaging ankle ligaments. Manager Roy Keane has been dealt a further blow with David Norris set to miss the forthcoming friendlies against Leiston and Bury due to a back injury. Wickham told the club's official website: "I took a shot at goal and felt my ankle give way. It's very frustrating and it looks like I'll be out for six weeks." The 17-year-old made 29 first-team appearances for Ipswich last season, scoring six goals, after making his debut 10 days after his 16th birthday in April 2009. Keane added: "Chuck (Norris) is a concern for us as well. He's got a stiff back and you have to be careful with that type of problem. "He won't play over the next few days and will be touch and go for the West Ham game at the weekend."
