We deserved to win, reckons Roy

A Peter Whittingham volley before the interval had given Cardiff a deserved lead, but the visitors made all the running after the break.[LNB]Once Jon Walters had fired his side level there was only one team in it, and Jonathan Stead came off the bench to score the winner five minutes from time - much to Keane's delight.[LNB]"I've had my share of luck here at Cardiff in the past but with the chances we had I think we deserved to win," he said.[LNB]"It was an open game but at half-time I told my players it would be a test of character and they have come through it well.[LNB]"The subs played a big part in the victory and although I have been disappointed with results to date I have never lost faith in the squad.[LNB]"Jon Walters has been a good leader over this difficult period and he scored a superb equaliser while Jon Stead is starting to make a habit of scoring vital goals for us."[LNB]It was Cardiff who adapted to the wet conditions better in the opening period and Whittingham struck the visitors' bar twice before opening the scoring in the 35th minute.[LNB]Jay Bothroyd headed down to Michael Chopra, who flicked the ball sideways for Whittingham to volley home a superb goal.[LNB]But the second half was totally different as the Bluebirds seemed to run out of ideas. Their midfield was nowhere to be seen as Ipswich went looking for an equaliser.[LNB]It came on 73 minutes when Walters was allowed to run down the right before cutting in and firing in a cross-shot beyond substitute goalkeeper Peter Enckelman and into the top corner.[LNB]The hosts never recovered from that setback and the defence failed to pick up their players, allowing Stead to fire in off the near post for the winner five minutes from time.[LNB]Cardiff manager Dave Jones was unhappy that his side failed to perform in the second half.[LNB]"The players never made the right decisions after the break and it was a game we should never have lost," he said.[LNB]"When the crowd went against the players they started to panic and some of them never wanted the ball.[LNB]"The midfield and front line were non-existent and we hardly strung two passes together.[LNB]"When you are fighting hard to get something out of a game you have to win the ball in tackles and we didn't even do that.[LNB]"I have seen two stoppable goals go in and we need to hold onto the ball more and make the right decisions.[LNB]"Players will make mistakes but it is how you respond to them that count and everyone in the dressing room is responsible as that was our worst performance at this ground.[LNB]"At the moment we are easy to break down but we are not a bad team collectively. We have to do better and if the players pull their fingers out we can soon get back on track."[LNB][LNB]
