St Ledger bid rejected
Ipswich's frustrating end to the transfer market continued after Preston confirmed they had rejected a bid for defender Sean St Ledger.
The Republic of Ireland international is one of several Preston players attracting interest and North End chairman Maurice Lindsay confirmed he had shunned a bid from Town, who missed out on Swindon striker Charlie Austin last week.
He said: "Ipswich wanted to sign St Ledger and we said `no'.
"This shows we are not a selling club, we are trying to strengthen in our battle to avoid relegation.
"We want to turn the ship round here, give ourselves the chance of staying in the Championship."
